Kent Guitar Academy’s Mission

Hi, I'm Nic Thompson, founder and head teacher at Kent Guitar Academy. Since 2006, I've been passionate about transforming traditional guitar lessons into something more meaningful – a coaching-based system that helps students truly connect with music and maximize their potential.

There's nothing more rewarding than helping others discover their musical voice and watching them grow as guitarists.

My approach isn't about stuffy, traditional lessons. Instead, I focus on creating an engaging, personalized experience that helps you achieve your musical dreams, whether you're picking up a guitar for the first time or looking to advance your skills.

When I was younger, music became my life's compass. After graduating from Musicians Institute in Los Angeles, I embarked on an incredible musical journey that has taken me across the globe – from performing at Terminal 5 in NYC to recording at Roundhouse Recording Studios in London. I've played and written music across every genre, from rock, metal and blues to jazz and pop, working with diverse artists and bands in both the UK and USA.

But my true calling? Teaching. I've discovered that helping others experience the joy and excitement of playing guitar is even more fulfilling than performing. Whether you're looking for lessons for yourself or a family member, my promise is to provide an inspiring and engaging learning experience that keeps you excited about picking up your guitar.
